The Biggest Changes for 2009
Here's an overview of some of the most significant changes for 2009:
-
New vendor for health plans. UMR, A UnitedHealthcare Company, will be a vendor for Plan A and Plan B. You will continue to have Blue Cross Blue Shield, Coventry and Preferred Health options as well.
-
Healthy lifestyle programs are here! The State of Kansas wants to partner with you to improve your health and well-being and to better manage health care costs. Through HealthQuest—your State of Kansas Health and Wellness Program—you have access to resources and tools that can help you and your family live a healthy life, programs to help you quit tobacco use, manage your weight and stress, and access to online wellness newsletters.
-
You can receive a discount on your premiums! Non-tobacco users and those tobacco users that enroll in and complete the Tobacco Cessation Program (offered through HealthQuest) will receive a discount on their health premiums. Direct bill participants will receive a $40 discount each month.
-
Rewards for completing the HealthQuest health screening and personal health assessment (PHA). It pays to be health conscious. If you complete the HealthQuest health screening and PHA, you will be eligible for a $50 gift card!
-
Current Medicare plan options. We're still offering Kansas Senior Plan C (with or without prescription drug coverage), the Coventry Advantra Freedom PPO and the Coventry Advantra Freedom PFFS but now you can choose whether you want to enroll in the PFFS with or without prescription drug coverage.
-
New Medicare plan options. New Medicare plan options will be offered through Humana. Options include a PPO and a PFFS with or without prescription drug coverage.
-
New Split Coverage Option for Medicare Eligible Members. If you and your covered dependent(s) are all eligible for Medicare, each family member may enroll in a different Medicare plan option. For example, if you and your spouse/other covered dependent are both eligible for Medicare, you may enroll in the Kansas Senior Plan C with drugs and your spouse/dependent may enroll in the Coventry Advantra PPO.
-
Prescription Drug Coverage. The coinsurance you pay for diabetic and asthma medications will be less and we've added coverage for prescription tobacco control products and weight-loss medications
